Legal
Terms of use
In short: The app may be used freely for personal use and in teaching. The content is learning material, not navigational data. The map data comes from Natural Earth and Statistics Sweden and is free to use.
1. Avtalet
Dessa villkor gäller mellan dig och Markus Wallgren, Umeå, Sweden, för användningen av appen AtlasGo Junior. Genom att installera och använda appen godtar du villkoren.
The app is obtained through the App Store. Apple's own terms apply to the download itself and to your Apple Account, alongside these terms.
2. Din licens
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive right to use the app on devices you control, for personal use and for teaching. The licence is free of charge and applies as long as you comply with these terms.
You may not:
- disassemble, decompile or attempt to extract the source code, except to the extent the law expressly permits
- sell, rent or sublicense the app
- extract and publish the app’s content as a work of your own
You are however free to show the app in a classroom, quote individual fact cards in teaching material with attribution, and recommend the app.
3. Use in schools
The app is intended to work in a school setting. Since it collects no personal data, no data processing agreement and no data protection impact assessment are required.
Note that the app currently stores one player profile per device. On a shared device, the next user overwrites the previous user's progress. Support for multiple profiles is planned.
4. About the content
The app is learning material. The content is prepared with care, but geographic facts change — countries are renamed, capitals move and borders shift. We therefore do not guarantee that all content is always complete or current.
The app is not intended for navigation. The maps are simplified and rounded to work as teaching illustrations. They must not be used to determine position, distance, boundaries or any real-world wayfinding.
The list of countries broadly follows the UN member states plus Vatican City and Palestine. The selection is pedagogical and is not a political position on the status or borders of any state.
If you find a factual error we would be grateful for an email — see support.
5. Intellectual property
The app's code, interface, icon, sounds and the fact texts and memory hooks written for the app belong to the author and are protected by copyright. The name AtlasGo Junior belongs to the author.
6. Map data and sources
The world content is based on Natural Earth 5.1.1, which is public domain. Municipal and county boundaries are based on Statistics Sweden's digital boundaries under CC0. Full details of dataset, version and retrieval date are in the app's licence manifest.
Lake and watercourse geometries from SMHI are deliberately not bundled until the underlying licence terms have been verified.
7. Ansvarsbegränsning
The app is provided as is and free of charge. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect damage, lost profit or loss of data arising from its use.
Because all progress is stored locally, it can be lost if the device breaks, is reset, or the app is uninstalled. We cannot restore lost progress, because we never held a copy.
8. Konsumenträttigheter
If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect the rights you have under Swedish and European consumer law. Should any part of these terms conflict with such law, the law prevails and the remaining terms continue to apply.
9. Ändringar
These terms may be updated. The date and version at the top show when they were last changed. Continued use after a change means you accept the new version.
10. Governing law
Swedish law applies. Disputes are heard by Swedish courts, with Umeå District Court as the court of first instance, unless mandatory consumer rules provide otherwise.
